Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS Vijayawada): MBBS Admission and Fees 2026

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS Vijayawada): MBBS Admission and Fees 2026

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) is the state health sciences university of Andhra Pradesh, based in Vijayawada. It was set up in 1986. It is not a single teaching college: it is the university that affiliates and examines medical, dental and allied health colleges in the state, and it is the competent authority that runs MBBS and BDS counselling for the state quota seats.

This page explains how MBBS and BDS admission through NTRUHS works for 2026-27, who is eligible, what the official fee notification lists and what to check before you pay. All fee figures below come from the university’s own counselling notification. Seat matrices, dates and phases change by notice, so always confirm them on drntr.uhsap.in.

Which MBBS and BDS seats NTRUHS fills in 2026-27

The 2026-27 counselling procedure (dated 29 August 2026) says the competent authority quota covers:

  • Seats in government medical and dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh, after 15% of seats go to the All India Quota.
  • Seats in the newer government medical colleges permitted from 2023-24, as the notification describes them.
  • Category A seats (50% of intake) in private un-aided medical and dental colleges, both minority and non-minority.
  • 126 MBBS seats in Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women (SVIMS), Tirupati.

Management quota (Category B) and NRI quota (Category C) seats in private colleges are filled through separate NTRUHS notifications.

  • Course discontinuation fee after admissions close: ₹3,00,000 for MBBS and ₹1,00,000 for BDS.

An earlier 2026-27 prospectus listed lower private college figures (for example ₹16,500 for MBBS Category A and ₹13,20,000 for Category B). The later 29 August procedure replaced them. Hostel and mess charges are set by each college and are not in this notification.

How the counselling works

  1. Register on the NTRUHS admission portal, pay the application fee and upload your scanned certificates inside the notified window. A late-fee window may open for those who miss it.
  2. Check the merit list and the seat matrix, which the university publishes on its website before web options open.
  3. Enter web options for the colleges you want, in your order of preference. Special category candidates (PwBD, NCC, CAP, sports and games, scouts and guides, Anglo-Indian) also enter web options.
  4. Download the allotment order after paying the university fee, and report to the allotted college with your original certificates within the reporting period.
  5. Pay the tuition fee at the college to finish admission. Originals are verified there, and a mismatch cancels the allotment.
  6. Later rounds follow: Phase II, Phase III (mop-up) and a stray vacancy round. A free exit is allowed after Phase I and Phase II as the schedule notes, and no withdrawal is allowed after that until admissions close.

The notification warns that candidates who do not report to a college allotted in one phase cannot choose that college again in the next phase.

Documents to keep ready

  • NEET UG admit card and scorecard
  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and mark sheets
  • Transfer, migration and study certificates, where the notice asks for them
  • Identity proof and passport-size photographs
  • Caste, income, EWS, local area or special category certificates, where they apply
  • Allotment order, and the medical fitness certificate when you report

The exact document list is in the prospectus for the year. Incomplete uploads can lead to rejection.

Scholarships

The university does not run a scholarship of its own for these seats. Students in Andhra Pradesh may be eligible for central and state schemes based on category, income or merit. Eligibility, income limits and amounts depend on the scheme and the year, so check the scheme’s own portal and the college fee office.

Hostel and campus

NTRUHS is an affiliating and examining university, so hostel, library, laboratories and clinical training depend on the college where you are allotted a seat. Ask that college for its current hostel form, fee, deposit and rules before you plan to stay on campus.

Placements

NTRUHS does not publish placement figures, and MBBS and BDS students do not go through campus placement. After the degree, graduates complete the compulsory internship and then choose PG preparation, further training or employment.
