What is MDS?
Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) is a postgraduate dental degree pursued after BDS. It provides advanced education in a selected dental speciality through didactic learning, clinical and laboratory training, seminars, research and dissertation work. The normal course duration is three years of full-time training.

MDS eligibility criteria.
For NEET-MDS 2026, the candidate must satisfy the NBEMS information bulletin and applicable dental regulations. Broadly, applicants need a recognised BDS qualification, provisional or permanent registration with a State Dental Council, and completion of the compulsory 12-month rotatory internship by the session’s specified cutoff date. The 2026 bulletin sets the internship cutoff at 31 May 2026.

NEET-MDS merit & central/state counselling
MDS admission & counselling 2026.
NEET-MDS is the single national eligibility-cum-ranking examination for MDS, and no separate State or institution-level entrance exam is valid for MDS admission under the NBEMS 2026 information bulletin. MCC conducts counselling for its defined All India Quota and central/deemed/institutional seat categories.
