For Indian applicants, “MBBS in Uzbekistan” is a common search term; the actual award may be called General Medicine or Doctor of Medicine. Confirm the exact qualification, not just its marketing label.
A reviewed example is Central Asian University’s six-year, English-language MD. This verifies that programme’s published structure—not that every institution, branch or training arrangement satisfies India’s requirements. [2] [11]

The university announced its new name effective 26 June 2023. Research its current MD and international fee category instead of relying on an old AKFA brochure. [7]

Build a six-year—or custom-period—budget
All monetary cost fields use one selected currency. Start with the Central Asian University international annual-fee reference, then edit the tuition basis, years, increases, living costs and INR conversion rate.
Starting tuition uses CAU’s 2026–27 USD 11,000 international annual reference. Holding it unchanged for six years is an assumption, not a price promise. USD 250/month housing + living, USD 3,000 other costs, 10% reserve and ₹90/USD are illustrative—not quoted current costs or a live exchange rate. Seventy-two months models a six-year stay; extra training and the later Indian pathway are not automatically included.
Calculation: annual-basis tuition = sum of starting tuition × (1 + annual increase) raised to year 0, 1, …; full-period tuition = your entered total once. Add months × monthly living + other costs, then the reserve, then convert to INR. Changing tuition years resets living months to 12 × years; edit months afterwards if needed. Currency changes clear financial amounts and the old conversion rate. Changing tuition basis clears the tuition amount to prevent double-counting. No live rates, loan interest, salary, scholarship, stipend or unentered costs are assumed.
Look beyond the course title
Duration, subjects, clinical training & internship.
Clinical learning should be visible in the curriculum, timetable and documented placements—not only in promotional language. The staged example below follows CAU’s published MD description; it is not a claim that every Uzbek medical institution has an identical structure. [2]
Years 1–3: scientific foundations
Based on the reviewed CAU MD description; other curricula may differ.
- Anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology and pathology form the scientific base.
- The programme describes early clinical exposure, propaedeutics and introductory AI in medicine/biostatistics.
From year 4: clinical disciplines
Read the actual year-by-year timetable, not a country-wide invented syllabus.
- The CAU example includes internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics/gynaecology, paediatrics, cardiology, neurology and oncology.
- Ask about supervised patient access, assessment, case records, teaching hospitals and clinical communication.
Practical training: inspect the evidence
Six internship components are not automatically a continuous 12-month qualifying internship.
- CAU describes a sequence of six supervised internship components. Obtain exact duration, institution, country, supervision and certification.
- Compare the actual arrangement with the applicable foreign-graduate framework rather than relying on “six years” or “5 + 1” marketing.
After the course: professional entry
The degree and permission to practise are distinct checks.
- The CAU page describes initial accreditation and a state examination at the end of the programme. Confirm the requirements applicable to foreign nationals.
- Indian examination, internship and registration requirements remain separate; postgraduate specialisation requires additional training.

Establish the actual training arrangement before admission.
For the applicable FMGL 2021 cohort, the framework includes at least 54 months of medical education and a 12-month internship at the same foreign institution, English instruction, required subjects, and the host-country registration/licensing condition at par with citizens. Institution/country and completion-time conditions also apply. [11]
The Indian pathway additionally includes the prescribed examination, at least 12 months of supervised internship in India for the applicable cohort, and the required registration process. The foreign and Indian internship requirements must not be treated as substitutes. [11]
NBEMS continues to publish FMGE information at review. Do not assume NExT has universally replaced it or predict which examination will apply six years later. Keep your curriculum, attendance, clinical/internship, travel and host-country registration records. [13]
Check eligibility, duration and the real award value
Scholarships, financial aid & education loans.
Scholarships should be assessed from the specific scheme and written award terms, not a headline saying “up to 100%.” Confirm your nationality, medical programme, intake, selection method, coverage period and renewal conditions.
Check nationality and course
CAU’s named Merit-Based Scholarship lists selected Central Asian countries. Indian applicants should not assume they qualify for that scheme.
Check the actual year
CAU’s page titled “Scholarships for 2026 Entry” still contains some 2025–26 dates. Obtain the current written terms instead of treating old dates as open.
Check what remains payable
A tuition discount may exclude housing, meals, insurance, visa, travel and later years. Budget without an unconfirmed award.

Samarkand’s published procedure includes a mixed document list with some higher-education items. Ask its admissions office for the correct undergraduate checklist for your route; this page does not make a bachelor’s degree a universal requirement for entry after Class XII. [5]
Plan lawful stay, practical support and a safer payment process

CAU’s visa guidance describes a university visa-support letter / TELEX NUMBER, followed by the official application process. Documents and processing times depend on nationality and the competent embassy/consulate; university support is not a guaranteed visa or a promise to pay state duties. [9]
Use the correct study route
Do not assume tourist entry or a short-stay e-visa covers a multi-year medical course. Confirm the right visa, renewals and residence registration before travelling.
Plan your first week
Confirm airport arrival support, lawful accommodation, local registration and any required PINFL or mobile/IMEI formalities with the university.
Keep payments traceable
Verify the university’s authorised account and obtain a detailed split of tuition, consultant, accommodation, food and incidental charges before paying.
Indian mission advice: the Embassy’s advisory of 18 June 2025 urges applicants to verify consultants and universities, establish the cost breakdown and pay fees directly to the university. Recheck the current advisory and immigration requirements before acting. [3]
For everyday life, ask about room arrangements, heating/cooling, food preferences, insurance, local transport, language support and emergency assistance. English instruction does not remove every daily-life or patient-communication barrier. Review current MEA/Indian mission notices rather than relying on a blanket “safe country” promise. [15] [19]

A medical degree can be the foundation for clinical practice, research, public health or further training, but each route has its own requirements. No university admission should be sold as an automatic overseas job, specialist qualification or worldwide practice licence.

Is the medical qualification in Uzbekistan always called MBBS?
No. MBBS is a common Indian search term; the actual programme/award may be General Medicine or Doctor of Medicine. CAU, for example, publishes a six-year MD. Confirm the qualification and professional rights attached to your exact course. [2]
How long does the course take?
The reviewed CAU MD is six years/12 semesters. Do not assume every advertised five- or six-year arrangement is equivalent. Extra preparatory study, required training, repeats and the later Indian pathway can add time. [2]
Does a six-year course automatically fulfil the internship requirement?
No. Obtain the detailed foreign internship evidence and compare it with the applicable FMGL framework. Several short supervised placements or an agent’s “5 + 1” description do not alone establish the prescribed internship at the same institution. [11]
Is NEET required for Indian students?
Covered Indian/OCI applicants must qualify NEET and satisfy underlying Indian conditions. NMC’s guidance gives the qualifying result three-year validity from declaration for the relevant foreign medical-study purpose. [10]
Are there university entrance tests or interviews?
Yes, requirements can be separate from NEET. Samarkand describes an oral Biology/Chemistry/language examination; CAU describes tests, an interview and specific exemptions. Confirm your current route. [5] [17]
Is IELTS always required—or always unnecessary?
Neither is a universal rule. CAU’s regulations describe an English-test route and specified exemptions, including IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 60 for Medicine/Dentistry. Verify your accepted route and course-wide teaching language. [17]
Are admissions still open for 2026?
Not as a blanket claim. At the 28 September review, Samarkand’s foreign submission deadline of 11 September and CAU MD’s listed 30 August deadline have passed. Recheck other institutions or any formally announced new round separately. [4] [2]
What happened to Tashkent Medical Academy?
The 22 April 2025 resolution created Tashkent State Medical University on the basis of Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute and Tashkent State Dental Institute. Confirm your programme, branch/campus and awarding institution under the current structure. [6]
Is AKFA University different from Central Asian University?
The university announced that AKFA University became Central Asian University effective 26 June 2023. They are not two separate options in this guide. [7]
What current tuition example has been verified?
CAU’s 2026–27 Medicine schedule lists USD 11,000 per academic year for international students. Its USD 10,000 category is specifically for international students from Central Asia. This private-university example is not a national average or an all-inclusive six-year price. [1]
Is the calculator a guaranteed quote or live exchange rate?
No. It combines your chosen tuition basis, years, assumed increases, explicit living months, other costs, reserve and manually entered INR rate. The default future fees, living amounts and ₹90/USD rate are assumptions. No live data or unentered post-degree costs are included.
Are Uzbek universities NMC- or WHO-approved for worldwide practice?
No blanket claim should be made. NMC does not endorse a foreign-college list, and WDOMS listing alone is not recognition, accreditation or endorsement. Every intended practice country has its own requirements. [10] [14]
Can Indian students assume a full scholarship?

Can I practise in India immediately after graduating?

How do I protect my payment and visa process?
Verify the university and representative, obtain an itemised contract, pay authorised recipients and keep receipts. Use the correct university-supported study-visa process and meet current local-registration requirements. The university cannot guarantee a consular decision. [3] [9]
