BIT Mesra Overview

Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, also known as BIT Mesra, established in 1955 by Mr B.M. Birla. In 1986, UGC granted it the status of a Deemed-to-be University. BIT Mesra is graded ‘A’ by NAAC. BIT Mesra ranked 51st by NIRF in the B.Tech category, while Collegedunia ranked BIT Mesra at 67th in the B.Tech category in 2025.

BIT Mesra offers courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels. BIT Mesra offer admission to the B.Tech program in 11 different specialisations as its flagship course. To be eligible for admission, candidates must secure at least 60% marks in class 10+2 from a recognised board. Ques. What is the selection process for B.Tech at BIT Mesra?

Ans. BIT Mesra offers a B.Tech program in various specializations. Students are admitted based on their AIR in JEE-Main through JoSAA or CSAB counseling. For B.Tech (BioTech), some seats are filled based on NEET (UG) / ICAR AIEEA (UG) scores.

Ques. What is the selection process for M.Tech at BIT Mesra?

Ans. BIT Mesra also offers M.Tech programs. Admission to the M.Tech program is based on merit in the GATE exam and academic performance. Candidates without a GATE score can also apply. The GATE score carries 80% weightage, and academic performance carries 20%.

Ques. Will the candidates get admission to BIT Mesra through the NRI quota?

Ans. BIT Mesra gives admission to students through the NRI quota. This means if the candidate’s parents are living outside India or if the candidate is from another country, the candidate can still apply.
