Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI)Â was notified as a deemed to be university on June 3, 2005. The institute was set up in Mumbai under the purview of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). Every year, the institute invites applications for its PG Diploma, M.Tech, M.Sc, M.D, M.Phil and Ph.D. courses. It also offers Super Specialty courses (M.Ch and DM). It has 11 constituent colleges all over India.

The institute offers PG Diploma in 3 specializations. HBNI admits students to the Diploma courses through entrance exam conducted by the constituent institutes. Candidates must hold MBBS degree with minimum 50% marks for the admission Diploma in Radiation Medicine. Applicants with B.E/ B.Tech degree can apply for the other diploma programs.
The entrance exam will be conducted in offline mode as written test for the duration of 3 hours.

The two-year M.Sc and M.Tech courses are offered at HBNI under five disciplines. Admission to these courses is based on the entrance exam. Candidates who apply for M.Tech and M.Sc courses at the institute must have passed M.SC/ B.E/ B.Tech in the concerned disciplines with minimum 50% marks.
The entrance exam will be held offline. Candidates can register for admission by filling in the application form and submitting the required processing fee on or before the last date. Merit list after the entrance exam will be available at the campus and the official website.

The minimum qualification for admission to M.D program in various specializations shall be MBBS or equivalent degree from a University recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 50% marks. Selection of candidates for admission to M.D program shall be through Entrance exam conducted by the Constituent College formulated in accordance with guidelines of Central Government and Government of the state where the institute is located.
The exam will be conducted through written mode. Admissions to Doctor of Medicine will be conducted through the standard admission process as approved by the Academic Council.

HBNI offers DM and M.Ch. courses for the minimum duration of 3 years. Admission to these courses is done through the written entrance test. For the admission to the courses, the candidate must have M.S or M.D inappropriate specializations or equivalent with minimum 50% marks.
Admissions will be based on the rank of candidates in the entrance test and academic performance in the qualifying degree exam. Applicants need to register offline for the entrance exam. Candidates who will be shortlisted for admission can check the list uploaded at the portal.Â

Admission to all the M.Phil course at the institute is based up on All India written screening test followed by an interview. Candidates who have passed M.Sc from any UGC recognized university with minimum 50% marks are eligible to apply for the course.
The SC/ST candidates who satisfy the required academic qualification will be given relaxation of 5%. Candidates need to submit the duly filled in application form for M.Phil, available at HBNI website.

Admission to the Ph.D. program shall be through interview of the applicants who must have been shortlisted by a written screening examination approved by the Academic council. Students can also apply for the Integrated Ph.D. program under which the institute provides dual degree (M.Sc and Ph.D.).
For the Integrated courses, candidates must hold graduation degree and for Regular Ph.D. program, applicants must have a Master’s degree in concerned disciplines. The minimum marks required in qualifying degree are 60%.
