Overview
North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), established in 1984, is an autonomous deemed-to-be university in Nirluji, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Funded by the MHRD, Government of India, it is an AICTE and UGC approved technical institute. It achieved an NIRF rank in the 151-200 band in the Engineering category in 2024. With 11 departments of Science & Engineering, it provides B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Tech, M.Sc, Ph.D, and MBA programs across specializations.
NERIST offers B.Tech in CSE as its Flagship course. The admissions for these programs are conducted based on various entrance exams. For B.Tech admissions, students must have a valid JEE Main score or NERIST Entrance Exam and go through the JoSAA counseling process. Similarly, for M.Tech admissions, performance in GATE / NEPGET and counseling is mandatory.

NERIST offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs for Engineering and Science courses. Popular specializations of B.Tech are CSE, ECE, and CSE (AI). M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, and B.Sc programs are also available for students. NERIST Admission 2025
NERIST admissions for UG and PG programs are based on the performance in JEE Main/NEE/GATE/NEPGET entrance exams. Admissions dates for 2025 are yet to be announced. Students can refer to the table below for the admission procedure.

NERIST Counselling: Once the candidate has a valid score in the entrance examination, he or she must apply for NERIST counselling. The names of the selected/ waitlisted candidates, along with the date and time of counselling will be uploaded on the institute website @www.nerist.ac.in. Candidates can download their counselling letter from the website. At the time of counselling/ admission, the candidates will have to produce all the relevant original certificates/ documents along with attested copies of the same.

NERIST JEE Main Cutoff 2025 has been released. For B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, the closing rank in Round 1 of 2025 is 46,694, and in Round 2, it is 48,388. For B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, the closing rank is 51,838 in Round 1 and 71,680 in Round 2.

NERIST Placement 2025
NERIST placement statistics for 2025 have not yet been released. According to NIRF reports, the PG department students secured a median CTC of INR 7 LPA, with 77 placed students in the 2023-24 placement drive. The UG department students achieved a median package of INR 6 LPA in 2023-24 with 182 placements. Some of the top recruiting companies were Oil India Limited, Tata Projects, Godrej, Reliance, HCL, Wipro, TCS, IBM, and Capgemini.

NERIST Scholarships 2025
NERIST is offering studentship to the students on a need cum merit basis. Students can also apply for the GATE scholarship and NET JRF or CSIR JRF fellowship to pursue their research programs. Some of the scholarships offered by NERIST are as follows:
- GATE Scholarship: Any student who has completed his/her master’s degree and enrolled in the M.Tech programs of NERIST based on GATE scores is eligible for this scholarship. The selected students are awarded INR 12,400 per month under the GATE scholarship scheme.
- Ph.D. Scholarship: Ph.D. scholars at NERIST are eligible to get a stipend/scholarship benefit of INR 28,000 per month upon selection.
- Studentship: Students pursuing a diploma or bachelor’s degree at NERIST can apply for the studentship. They will be rewarded INR 800 per month as the benefit of studentship.
