Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, established in 1993 is the first and only institute in the world providing education to tribal students only who come from marginal family background. The institute provides students with education from Kindergarten to Post Graduation along with vocational training. Due to stable and consistent growth in the performance of the university, KISS has been ranked in Top 10 in India by ‘NGO Advisor’ and Ranked 189 among the Top 500 NGOs in the World.

A total of 50 courses are being provided to students with major courses like Bachelor of Arts (B.A) and Masters of Arts (M.A). Admission to the courses is offered on the basis of merit scored in the qualifying exam or the entrance test conducted at the institute’s level. Around 26,642 tribal students from parts of the country come here to gain education all for free. Girls are motivated to join the institute and are given preference during the admission. 60% girl students have been pursuing their education in different streams.
