Indian law Institute widely known as ILI was established in 1956. The institute was inaugurated by the first president of India Dr.Rajendra Prasad in presence of various government officials and other judges. The government of India granted the status of the deemed university to ILI in 2004. The institute offers LLM, Ph.D., postgraduate in diploma, and online certificate programs. Indian Law Institute New Delhi Admission Process 2026
- Indian Law Institute (ILI), New Delhi offers admission to major legal programs such as LL.M. (One-Year), Ph.D. in Law, Post Graduate Diploma Courses, and Online Certificate Courses. Admissions to all these programs are based on either entrance examinations or merit, depending on the course.
- For LL.M program, candidates are selected based on performance in the ILI Entrance Exam. Admission to the Ph.D. in Law program is based on UGC NET (Law) scores followed by an interview. For admission to PG Diploma courses are based on merit of the qualifying exam, and admission to Certificate Courses is through direct enrollment.

Indian Law Institute Delhi PG Diploma Admission 2026
ILI Delhi offers PG Diploma courses in 4 specializations. These courses are for students who have completed their graduation in any stream.
To apply, students must fill the form online on the ILI website. The application fee is INR 2,000. Payment can be made using a debit card, credit card, or net banking.
Admission is based on the marks scored in the last qualifying exam (graduation marks). Students who have done LL.B., CA, CMA, or CS will get 5% extra weightage in marks.
In case two students have the same score, the tie will be broken by:
- Giving first preference to students with Law, CA, CMA, or CS background
- If still equal, the older student in age will get priority

Indian Law Institute Delhi Ph.D Admission 2025
Indian Law Institute Delhi offers a Ph.D. in Law. Students who have completed their LL.M. with at least 55% marks can apply. The form can be filled online at ili.ac.in.
The application fee is INR 3,000. Candidates can pay by net banking, debit card, credit card, or wallet.
How is Admission Done?
Admission is based on the NET exam score and interview. Students are placed in three groups:
Category I (JRF holders):
- You will be selected based on your interview only.
Category II (NET passed, no JRF):
- 70% marks from NET score
- 30% marks from interview
Category III (NET passed, no JRF):
- Same as Category II
The NET score is valid for one year. If a student is called for an interview and does not attend, they will not be considered for admission.

ILI Delhi Placements 2025 report has not been released yet. However, as per the NIRF 2024 repot, the median salary offered was INR 8.4 LPA for the PG 1-year program. In 2023, 157 students completed the course, out of which 112 students were placed. Further, 34 students opted for higher studies. In 2021-22, 138 students were placed with a median package of INR 5.75 LPA, while 47 students chose further education. Indian Law Institute New Delhi Scholarships 2025
ILI Delhi gives scholarships to students in the One Year LL.M. program. These are for students who score well or need financial help. The aim is to support and encourage them in their studies.
Merit scholarship: ILI Delhi offers a Merit Scholarship of INR 30,000 per year to the top two students who are admitted to the One Year LL.M. program based on their rank in the All India Admission Test. The scholarship is given in two parts — the first at the time of admission, and the second after the 1st semester result is declared. To receive the second installment, the student must score an ‘A’ Grade or higher and maintain good quality in their research work.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: The institute also provides a Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to support students who are both bright and financially weak. Under this scheme, up to 5% of the students in the One Year LL.M. program may get half of their tuition fee reimbursed. This support is given after reviewing the financial background of the student. The final decision is taken by the Director based on the recommendation of a committee.

Central Library: Central library is one of the well-known libraries in the country. It is a part of the National Digital Library of India. It contains around 81000 volumes.190 periodicals are received there with serial publications. Indian Law Institute Delhi All India Admission Test
The Indian Law Institute (ILI), Delhi takes an entrance test for its One-Year LL.M. course. This test is called the ILI Common Admission Test (ILICAT).
Students must apply online on the website @ili.ac.in. The application fee is INR 2,500. After applying, students can download the admit card from the same website.
The test is held in Delhi. The total time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The paper has three parts:
- Part 1 (40 marks) – Questions from English and General Knowledge
- Part 2 (100 marks) – Questions from law subjects like Constitution, Contracts, Torts, and Criminal Law
- Part 3 (40 marks) – Short writing questions to test legal writing
