The college was founded by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah in 1946 and the B.M.S Educational Trust is in charge of its administration. Admissions to all the courses offered at BMSCE are done on the basis of various state and national-level entrance tests. These include PGCET, KMAT, MAT, GATE, etc. There are additional counselling sessions for seat distribution in some courses. In order to offer Huawei Scholarships for Excellence to students at the Engineering College, Huawei Technologies India, the Indian R&D Center of Huawei (a major provider of ICT solutions globally), has struck an agreement with BMS College of Engineering. Students enrolled in the second, third, and fourth years of the Bachelor of Engineering course will receive a scholarship worth INR 50,000 each year.
The Huawei scholarships will be given to 10 students who have an excellent academic record and need financial aid in order to promote academic excellence, open doors for their future professional success, and help the community.
