The traditional Ayurvedic system is the main emphasis of the undergraduate Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program. Usually lasting five and a half years, the program includes a mandatory one-year internship. The BAMS curriculum covers topics including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and contemporary diagnostic procedures while integrating a complete understanding of Ayurvedic principles and practices with traditional medical sciences. BAMS Course Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to BAMS course has been enlisted below.

  • Candidates should have passed class 12th with recognised board/university

  • They must have mandatory subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and scored at least 50% marks in class 12 standard

  • Qualifying NEET or state level exam is mandatory for admission to BAMS course

Admission Process for BAMS Course

Candidates get admission on the basis of the score in the entrance test. Majority of institutes accept NEET score for admission to BAMS course. Candidates have to apply online for the NEET exam which is held annually in pen and paper mode. Candidates who score the minimum cut off are asked to participate in the counselling to get admission in different medical courses including BAMS. Apart from NEET, some state level entrance exams are also conducted by respective universities for admission to BAMS courses. These exams are KEAM, OJEE, and IPU CET. KEAM score is valid in Kerala while OJEE is valid in Odisha.
