What is BA in Sociology? 

Bachelor of Arts or BA in Sociology is a 3 year undergraduate course that spreads across six semesters. The course deals with the various aspects of the social world including the psychological nature of men and women and the barriers between the different social strata. In other words, we can say that Sociology is the systematic study of society, culture, and the relationship between various social levels. It also explains the relationship between various individuals, their experiences and their attitudes.

BA in Sociology Admission 2026

The admission to the BA  course is done either on the basis of the marks acquired by the students in the 10+2 examination or on the basis of the performance in the entrance conducted by the respective college/ university. On the basis of the average score secured by the candidates and the total number of applicants, a merit list is prepared by the respective colleges on the basis of which admissions are done.

BA in Sociology Eligibility 

In order to be eligible for the BA course, candidates will have to fulfil the following admission criteria:

  • The students need to pass their 10+2 examination from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate of 50%. A 5% relaxation will be given to the SC/ ST/ PwD/ OBC candidates.
  • The candidates must also English as one of their main subjects in 10+2. Apart from this. In some cases, you may also have to clear the cut-off of the entrance test to be eligible.
