Candidates will be able to submit their applications through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) at the official GATE 2027 website. The regular registration window will remain open until September 27, 2026, without a late fee. Candidates who miss the regular deadline will get an extended opportunity to complete their applications with a late fee until October 5, 2026. One of the biggest changes candidates need to know before starting the GATE 2027 application form is that registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals. IIT Madras has advised applicants to create or update their verified DigiLocker account before beginning the application process. So, if you are planning to appear for GATE 2027, now is the right time to get your documents, DigiLocker details, and academic information ready. GATE 2027 Registration: What’s New This Year? GATE 2027 applicants should pay attention to a few important updates before filling out the application form. The first major requirement is DigiLocker integration. During registration, several details will be fetched from the candidate’s verified DigiLocker account. These include the candidate’s name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, profile picture, address, and verified ID card number. IIT Madras has also introduced Robotics and Automation (RA) as a new GATE test paper for 2027. The official website has also notified candidates about revisions to the syllabi and updates to certain paper combinations and sectional paper codes. Candidates can select up to two GATE papers, but the second paper must be chosen from the officially permitted two-paper combinations. Both papers have to be selected within a single application rather than through separate forms.
