The DMLT program, which usually lasts one to two years, provides a thorough education in laboratory science and technology with an emphasis on the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for working in medical laboratories. Human anatomy and physiology, clinical biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, pathology, laboratory instrumentation, quality control and laboratory management are just a few of the topics covered in the curriculum. Additionally, safety protocols in laboratories, ethical issues and legal requirements pertaining to medical diagnostics and laboratory practice are taught to students.
