BVCOE Pune 2026: Ultimate Admission Guide & Course Details

Exploring BVCOE Pune and Its Diverse Academic Institutions

Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering [BVCOE Pune]has a long-standing record in the field of higher education in Maharashtra; the parent organisation, Bharati Vidyapeeth, was founded in Pune in 1964 by Dr. Patangrao Kadam with the objective of improving access to education and promoting human-resource development, and over time it set up institutions in a number of areas of higher education and professional studies.

A significant achievement occurred in April 1996 when the Indian Government, acting on the advice of the University Grants Commission, awarded deemed university status to a group of 12 Bharati Vidyapeeth institutions pursuant to Section 3 of the UGC Act. This status is significant since Bharati Vidyapeeth as an educational organisation was established in 1964, whereas the deemed-university status itself dates from 1996.

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) in Pune now has constituent institutions which cover fields including engineering, management, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, nursing, science, arts and various other professional disciplines. Its academic activities in Pune are carried out at campuses located in Dhankawadi, Erandwane and Lavale. The university currently enjoys A++ NAAC accreditation in the fourth cycle of 2024, and the official NIRF 2026 information page ranks it 59th among universities.

BVCOE Pune: History and Development

Bharati Vidyapeeth was started in Pune in 1964 with Dr. Patangrao Kadam at its head. At first it concentrated on extending educational opportunities and reinforcing students’ academic bases. Over time its activities spread out from these original educational efforts to include a much wider range of higher-education institutions.

1996 was another significant stage in its development, since the Indian Government gave deemed-to-be-university status to a group of 12 Bharati Vidyapeeth institutions on the recommendation of the UGC. This action laid the foundation for the current structure of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University).

The university has since established institutions in a variety of professional and academic fields, and in Pune the campuses have different academic roles rather than acting as a single college providing all the programmes.
